At ten am on a Thursday morning we decided to fly to Paris to see the Brancusi Retrospectiveat the Centre Pompidou. That same night we were on a flight from Cape Town to France. We don’t usually plan all our trips that way, but this one was a wonderful and whimsical decision that we loved and enjoyed. Would we do it again? We probably would. Why not? Life is short. Live it well!
“The excitement of planning a trip on a whim gets better when the destination is the ever beautiful Paris and you are travelling with your lover. So romantic, so inviting, so evocative.”

The culture shock, a magical world of the obvious, the intangible and the obscure, a city curated by centuries of opulence and refinement. The culture of street life, the cafes that dateback to the early 1900’s and have served Parisians an iconic croissant and dark coffee sincethen. The hidden shops that exist only to cater to a refined and enlightened taste. The parade of people who have lived here, the chocolatier and the kings, the writers and artists and the street cleaners. A woman in a yellow raincoat who can magically email you a list of amazing family restaurants or almost unknown palaces or a small charming gallery where you find twenty beautiful Marc Chagall paintings.
“You look up at façades of the Beaux-Arts architecture and wonder about the many lives that have lived behind those gracious windows, a thirst to walk those streets, hoping some of what you feel, will change you forever.”
